Founder's Story
Welcome to our website, we are Avi and Peggy Farah. We understand from our personal loss that the problem of addiction is overwhelming in our community. It is because of this that we decided to do something about it in commemoration of our son. This is our story."Benjamin Tofik Farah is our son, our only child. On May 4, 2013, at the age of 24, Ben was taken from us by the horrible disease of addiction. Ben succumbed to a lethal overdose of Phencyclidine (PCP) and Heroin. We were devastated and have experienced a barrage of feelings spanning emotional heartache, failure, and unfathomable loss. We have learned that, unfortunately, we are not alone. Deaths from opiates, specifically Heroin, are increasing for young adults at an astonishing rate. We are compelled to do something; perhaps educating others will prevent this tragedy from reoccurring and provide support to the recovering addict. Knowledge is Power. Our movement will educate our youth; age appropriately as well as educate the parents. We view the fight of drug abuse as a long term preventative measure through education. Our movement will encourage further research into the genetic and environmental factors which may contribute to the propensity for drug addiction. We hope to achieve these goals through donations, the support of our community and sponsors who have dedicated their time and professional expertise to this movement. We have come to form this movement in the name of our beloved son, Benjamin Tofik Farah. Benjamin, you will live on forever in our hearts. "
